Aramid Rope Fibers

Pound per pound, aramid fibers have more strength than steel.  Aramid fibers are tough, high in strength, resistant to cutting and abrasion, resistant to organic solvents yet sensitive to chlorine along with bases and acids.  It has no melting point and low flammability.  Under regular conditions it's non conductive, however it still can absorb salt water and water.  Aramid fibers are also sensitive to shock loads as well as degradation from UV radiation.

Technora is one type of para-aramid fiber that is made from co-polymers.  CBKnot carries a variety of ropes by both Samson Rope and New England Ropes (Teufelberger), which use aramid fibers.
