Winch & Crane
Currently, alot of winch and crane wires are being replaced with rope. Rope has many benefits. When shipping to remote locations, rope weighs less than wire. Also, rope used in cranes and winch lines are safer. If a wire breaks, it can recoil and hit someone. Rope, on the other hand, will drop when snapped, preventing injury. When using rope on a winch line, remember to use approx. 6 rounds of rope to cover then winch.
On some synthetic ropes used as winch lines, or on drilling rigs, make sure equipment and shackles are deburred. CBKnot carries a variety of ropes from Samson, New England (Teufelberger) and other manufactures.
