How to Make a Parachute Cord Bracelet Using One Continuous Rope

Need a survival bracelet? This one you can make with 1 continuous piece of rope. Trendy 550 and 650 paracord bracelets are easy to make at home. Visit www.cbknot.com for all your rope needs.

Learn how to make a survival bracelet! This is made with 550 paracord. The 550 paracord is a nylon that has seven strands of rope on the inside. This is made using one continuous piece of rope.

First off, cut it making it 16 feet (could you do it with less, probably). Then get a snap or actually tie a knot on the end. Then you will take this little clip. I take my 550 cord and I find the center of it and I feed it through both strands and then I pull it all the way through and that's how I'm going to anchor it.

Then what I usually do is take the rope (and since this is a continuous bracelet) and take the ends, without getting the rope twisted, and take one piece and slide it through until you get about the desired bracelet length.

Then take the other piece and do the same thing and feed that piece too making sure that your rope is not twisted. The next step is to put it on your hand and figure out the size that you want again, making sure to watch the rope so it doesn't get twisted. Anchor that down and pull it around and turn it over.

Now that we have both of our strands through, take one side and loop it and then pull it under. Then take the other side and pull it over and loop it up through the other side loop. Then it will hook on.

Next step is chaining! This is where the YouTube tutorial may be helpful! You take one cord and go over (tighten) and then under (tighten again). This is called Cox combing or the cobra braid. Keep doing this. On these bracelets you can make them as tight or as loose as you want. The idea behind the survival bracelet is you actually want it very tight because you want to put as much rope into the bracelet as you can that way if you're ever out in the woods or in the outback and you need some rope you can cut this and you'll have at least 15 to 16 feet of rope just in your bracelet and this paracord is very strong!

It may start to curl up and that's just because you are braiding it pretty tight (which is fine). The great thing about this 550 cord is you used to be able to only get it in olive drab and black and occasionally whites, but now they've got all these great fun colors! Some people put a knot on one end and loop on one end and then you have no plastic at all on your bracelet. To finish it out you can do this or cut the ends and then burn off the edges to make it smooth. Then you have your completed bracelet!

A helpful tip would be to anchor the bracelet down by putting it between your knees or taping it down to a table. These make great presents or fundraisers for school.
