Rope Construction: Double Braid Polyester

A double braid rope refers to a braided rope cover over a braided rope core. Basically, it is a rope over another rope. This rope is flexible and easy to handle. This rope is spliceable. Double braid rope is often called yacht braid and can be made with combinations of fibers or the same fibers.

    Bought this to use to secure a tarp to metal frame for RV Port. Less expensive that rope i but for whitewater sports. Columbia was helpful when i called. Plastic spool is thin and ends broke when received. Rope gets a twist in it as i threaded through grommets. When cut with a sharp blade or scissors the outer braid frays back an inch so i ended up cutting with propane torch which worked good and sealed the ends at the same time. It holds knots ok, have to cinch down tight or they slip a bit. It did not seem to stretch too much when tensioned. I have not other double braid to compare it to, but it seems good quality. Would buy form them again.
