Samson Splicing Tubular Aluminum Fids and Pushers
SamsonNOTE: Fids and pushers are sold separately. Make your choice from the drop down menu.
When we splice in house we usually go down a fid size. By doing this it makes splicing a bit easier.
Fids
Samson Tubular fids are available in a variety of sizes depending on the rope type and diameter you're splicing.
Pushers
Helpful for extracting cores or pushing fids through the rope.

1/4" Fid
I haven't used other fids to compare with, though this one is different than the main type I see in most tutorial videos. Not flimsy, slides through outer shell well, and a definite step up from what I've been improvising with! A bit finicky for me personally to make sure core or hollow outer shell is set well into the inset, so I tape it before pulling through and thus far haven't had any issue. Next to eventually get the 9/16 size.
